Watching the key races fall one after another, in late June, I started to plant the seed for something else com
Trialing our hiking food today before we head out on our multi day adventures. Gourmet risotto, just add water!
Actually really tasty 😋
For winter we are blessed with this weather. Iron Mountain just inland from San Diego is a nice way to check out things from above.
Ultra marathons are any events longer in distance than a marathon (42.2km). However, as there is no upper limit, the range in event can vary significantly. The final summit from today’s hike up to Suicide Rocks in Idyllwild. An hour out from Palm Springs. Such an amazing view. So fortunate 😃
Thank you HOKA One for our hiking boots. First hike down and super comfortable and supportive 👌
Last week I hit the road to Mount Barney National Park for a hike to Cronin Creek Falls. It's a ~12km/7.5mi in and out track that follows a mostly flat, well-maintained fire trail.
It had been a bloody hot week, so I took off the night before to pitch my tent in nearby Rathdowney in order to get an early start. I'm glad I did because geez it was a stinker.
Unfortunately, there had been little rain in the weeks prior, meaning the falls weren't gushing. Nonetheless, the waterhole at the end of the trail was nice for a dip before turning back.
The trail wasn't as beautiful or varied as other walks I've done but it was a good challenge for my body. The farthest I'd walked in the previous months was 8kms/5mi so this was a good test on my feet and knees as I still have arthritic symptoms from my recent flare-up. I'm happy to say I made it in and out with only a little pain towards the end of the walk.
Some great spots to hike around Palm Springs. This place was called Palm Canyon Trail. Super fun!

Great hike today up to Mount San Antonio. Just above 10,000 feet it’s one of the highest peaks in California. Heading up Devils Backbone had some hairy moments and was super hard work ?
